CXLB73256 is a PFM boost multi-section Ni-MH battery charging control integrated circuit operating from 2.7V to 6.5V, which can charge 4 to 12 Ni-MH batteries. CXLB73256 use constant current mode and maintenance charging mode to charge and manage the battery. The internal integration includes reference voltage source, inductor current detection unit, battery voltage detection circuit and off-chip field effect transistor drive circuit, etc, it has the advantages of few external components and simple circuit. After entering the power supply, CXLB73256 enters the constant current charging state, and controls the off-chip N-channel MOSFETs to conduct, and the inductor current rises. When it rises to the upper limit of the external current detection resistor setting, off-chip N-channel MOSFETs, and the inductor current drops, the energy in the inductor is transferred to the battery. When the inductor current drops to the lower limit of the external current detection resistor setting, the off-chip N-channel MOSFETs turn on again, thus cycling. When the FB pin voltage reaches 1.125V (typical value), CXLB73256 enters the maintenance charging mode. At this time, the input current decreases to 66% of the constant current state, and the internal timer is started at the same time. When the internal timing ends or the FB pin voltage reaches 1.205V, the charging process ends and the off-chip N-channel MOSFETs remain off condition when the FB pin voltage drops to the recharge threshold (1.105V), CXLB 73256 enters the charging state again. The maximum operating frequency of CXLB73256 can reach 1MHz, and the operating temperature ranges from-40℃ to + 85℃. When the battery voltage is lower than the input voltage or the battery is short-circuited, CXLB 73256 is in the N-channel outside the chip.
Under the combined action of MOSFETs and P-channel MOSFETs, the battery is charged with a small current, which protects the battery. Other functions include Chip Enable input, status indicator output, etc. CXLB73256 uses a 10-pin SSOP10 package.

CXLB73256 is a PFM boost multi-section Ni-MH battery charging control integrated circuit operating from 2.7V to 6.5V, which can charge 4 to 12 Ni-MH batteries. CXLB73256 use constant current mode and maintenance charging mode to charge and manage the battery.
