The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-up
DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB space
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves the
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteed
below 1V. After start-up, the device can operate with input
voltage down to 0.7V. The CXSU63133 is suitable for por-
table battery-powered applications. Consuming only 11μA
quiescent current and an optimized control scheme al-
lows the device to operate at very high efficiency over the
entire load current range.

Inductor SelectioneSV嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple currenteSV嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-eSV嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep theeSV嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limiteSV嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the currenteSV嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. ForeSV嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,eSV嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),eSV嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-eSV嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to beeSV嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “OutputeSV嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-eSV嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitoreSV嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-eSV嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers aeSV嘉泰姆

A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.eSV嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumpseSV嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reacheseSV嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boostseSV嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.eSV嘉泰姆
Synchronous RectificationeSV嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the needeSV嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost andeSV嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channeleSV嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.eSV嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improveseSV嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.eSV嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. eSV嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature ProtectioneSV嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-eSV嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-eSV嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the powereSV嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-eSV嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process andeSV嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-eSV嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°CeSV嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-eSV嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.eSV嘉泰姆
