The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-up
DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB space
by eliminating the need for an external Schottky diode.
Low on-resistance of the internal switches improves the
efficiency up to 92%. The start-up voltage is guaranteed
below 1V. After start-up, the device can operate with input
voltage down to 0.7V. The CXSU63133 is suitable for por-
table battery-powered applications. Consuming only 11μA
quiescent current and an optimized control scheme al-
lows the device to operate at very high efficiency over the
entire load current range.

Inductor SelectionnHN嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple currentnHN嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-nHN嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep thenHN嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limitnHN嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the currentnHN嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. FornHN嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,nHN嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),nHN嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-nHN嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to benHN嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “OutputnHN嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-nHN嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitornHN嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-nHN嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers anHN嘉泰姆

The converter monitors the output voltage. When the in-nHN嘉泰姆

up. The main switch turns off when the current reachesnHN嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-nHN嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time ofnHN嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-nHN嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current tonHN嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum ofnHN嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage dropsnHN嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme withnHN嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter getsnHN嘉泰姆

Start-UpnHN嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.nHN嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumpsnHN嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reachesnHN嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boostsnHN嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.nHN嘉泰姆
Synchronous RectificationnHN嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the neednHN嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost andnHN嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channelnHN嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.nHN嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improvesnHN嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.nHN嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. nHN嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature ProtectionnHN嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-nHN嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-nHN嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the powernHN嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-nHN嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process andnHN嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-nHN嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°CnHN嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-nHN嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.nHN嘉泰姆
