1. Product Overview
CXLE88178 is a highly integrated line scan driver chip designed for LED scanning display, with 8-channel PMOS output, 138 decoding circuit and multiple protection functions. 2.1. High integration design
The 138 decoding circuit and 8 power PMOS output transistors are integrated inside the chip, the on-resistance is as low as 100mΩ, and the maximum driving current is 2.5A. This highly integrated design significantly simplifies the PCB layout and routing complexity of the LED module.

4.1. Power and Grounding
• VDD (pins 1, 9): Chip power input, working voltage range 3.0V-5.5V

6. Control Logic and Data Protocol

In a typical 8-scan LED display screen, a piece of CXLE88178 can drive 8 rows of LEDs, receive row selection signals from the controller through A0-A2 address lines, and OUT0-OUT7 connect to corresponding row lines respectively.
7.2. 16-scan LED display application
For the 16-sweep system, it can be realized by two-piece CXLE88178 cascade. The first piece of driving ROW0-ROW7, the second piece of driving ROW8-ROW15, through E1, E2 enable terminal distinction chip gate.

8.1.PCB Layout Recommendations
• Adequate decoupling capacitors should be placed near the power supply pins
• Output traces should be wide enough to withstand large currents
• The control signal line should be far away from the high frequency interference source
8.2. Thermal management considerations
Although the power consumption of the chip is low, the heat dissipation problem still needs to be considered in high brightness and high scanning frequency applications. It is recommended to reserve heat dissipation vias at the bottom of the chip.
